What we publish
Our project guides and blog posts are general guidance for homeowners, landlords and contractors planning residential work. They explain how permits usually work, what to decide and measure, and what to ask your local permit office. They are not your town's rules, and they are not legal, engineering or code-official advice.
How we research
- Primary sources first. When we describe how codes and permits work, we start from official sources: building departments, state code agencies, and the organizations that publish model codes.
- No pasted code text. Model building code text is copyrighted. We link to it or paraphrase it, and never reproduce it.
- No specific town rules, fees or deadlines unless they come straight from that town's own published pages, and we say so when they do. Our guides deliberately avoid quoting numbers that vary from town to town.
- A clear reminder. Every post or guide that describes what a permit may require includes: “Check with your local permit office.”
Who writes and reviews
Articles are written and edited by Sully Studios, drawing on our founder's years of home-repair contracting experience. We may use AI tools to help research and draft. A person reviews every article before it's published, and the byline is always Sully Studios.
Sully, the character in our app, is an AI guide, not a real person. When Sully appears in our content, we make that clear, and Sully never claims to have built, inspected or approved anything.
Independence
We don't accept payment for coverage, and we don't publish sponsored posts. We don't publish user counts, reviews, testimonials or endorsements we don't have. If we ever earn money from links in an article, the disclosure sits right next to those links, as described in our affiliate disclosure.
Updates and corrections
Codes and local rules change. We review guides periodically and update them when we learn something has changed. If you spot an error, email [email protected] with the page and what's wrong. We'll check it and correct the page if we got it wrong.
How the app researches
Inside PermitLogic AI, Sully researches your town in a fixed order: your town first, then the county, then the state, then the model code. Links you paste are read first. Every rule is labeled with its source, phone numbers, fees and quotes are checked against the pages Sully read, and when a rule can't be found, the report says so. Results depend on what your town publishes, and your permit office decides.
